September 1, 2014 – New Executive Director Named

After serving Maranatha for the past 11 1/2 years, Joan Jones has announced that she will be stepping down and Cathy Bowers will become the new Executive Director, effective September 1, 2014.  Joan served as Board Chair for 8 1/2 years and during that time also assumed the role of Financial Manager.  She became the Executive Director in July, 2011.

Cathy, formerly Manager of the Hanover Street branch of  Orrstown Bank, joined Maranatha as an Account Manager in February 2012.  Her management and accounting experience, as well as her caring and compassion, make her the ideal candidate for this position.

Maranatha currently serves nearly 280 individuals and families with money management including over 200 with mental health challenges.  Utilizing the services of Maranatha helps to assure clients do not become homeless and their basic needs are met.  Spending is planned so those quarterly and semiannual insurance and utility bills, and in some cases car repairs, do not become a crisis.  Weekly checks assure clients have funds for personal needs throughout the month.  Landlords more willingly rent to clients working with Maranatha.  Utility services that had been terminated may be reconnected when a client begins working with Maranatha and a payment plan is set up.
