Join us at Market Cross Pub March 28th

The famous quote, “Imitation is the greatest form of flattery,” said by Irish playwright Oscar Wilde is certainly applicable to Market Cross Pub. When the Goss family opened the pub in 1994, they styled it after an English pub in Carlisle’s sister city, Carlisle, England. Apparently news of the new Market Cross Pub in Pennsylvania reached England and a Market Cross Pub was opened in Carlisle, England as well. We recently sat down with part-owner (of the Carlisle, Pennsylvania Market Cross Pub), Ashleigh to talk about the restaurant and their upcoming participation in Match Madness to benefit Maranatha-Carlisle.

While Market Cross Pub continues to focus on its English Faire and classic American food, they have greatly expanded their services over the years. The expansion began in 1999 when they started a garage brewery in the back of the restaurant. Opening in 2002 as Market Cross Brewery, the brewery features one of the only Peter Austin Brewery Systems in the United States and is operated by brewmaster Kevin Spicer. Their expansion continues today with the growth of their outside catering business.

In addition to their participation in the Match Madness campaign to benefit Maranatha Carlisle, Market Cross Pub has several other events coming up, including the celebration of their birthday month throughout the month of April and their golf outing on May 10th.  To stay up to date on their various events make sure you sign up for their newsletter by clicking here.

When we asked Ashleigh why she chose to partner with Maranatha-Carlisle for Match Madness, she emphasized how important giving back to the community is to their family.  She talked about how good the Carlisle community has been to Market Cross Pub, and how important the work is that Maranatha-Carlisle does to protect the vulnerable members of our community.  Make sure you mark your calendar to join Maranatha-Carlisle on March 28th at Market Cross Pub! Be sure let them know how much you appreciate their support while enjoying some great food and supporting the work of Maranatha-Carlisle.
