Who’s the new bald guy?

Guess which one is me…

My name is Matthew Wagner and I am blessed to be the new Communication and Development Manager for Maranatha-Carlisle.  I have a degree in Communication Studies from Bloomsburg University (Go Huskies!) After college, I spent several years in the financial services industry before doing consulting work for nonprofit organizations and small businesses.  Primarily I worked with them to determine their key audiences and then designing and implementing a cost-effective plan for reaching that audience.  In 2016 I begin working full-time for a statewide nonprofit organization as their Education Director where I was responsible for their external communication…including things like social media management, media relations, blogging, press releases, and radio outreach among other things.  In November the organization went through a restructuring and I was downsized, so here I am!

I have been married for 15 years now to the love of my life, and the best wife a guy could ask for, Lisa.  In my “spare time” I act as a taxi driver to my two boys, Russ who is 12 and Nathaniel who is 7.  I am also active in politics, and when I can, I enjoy watching my Steelers, Penguins, Pirates, and Penn State Nittany Lions.  My family and I live in New Kingstown with our dog “Princess Magnolia of Nottingham” aka “Maggie.”

Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working with various nonprofit organizations professionally and as a volunteer.  From mental health organizations to organizations that help veterans to organizations that work with individuals dealing with unexpected pregnancies, they all have one thing in common—a real heart for making a difference and helping those in need.  The other thing they have in common is they primarily are helping people with a pressing need…shelter, clothing, food, whatever the case may be. Many times (although not always) that need stems from a root cause—poor financial management.   What I love about Maranatha-Carlisle is that we help people address the root cause for their struggle, not just the symptom.

I am excited about helping our clients get themselves on the right financial path and changing their future, and I can’t wait to partner with you to do just that!  Please don’t hesitate to give me a call at 717-258-1000 or email me at mwagner@maranatha-carlisle.org.  I’m always looking for ideas on how to raise awareness of what Maranatha-Carlisle is all about, and I can’t wait to sit down with you and hear your suggestions!
