Our History
“Financial Counseling Services changes lives”…those were the words of Scott Dixson, a caseworker at the Salvation Army, in 2001 as he met with members of Samaritan Fellowship to discuss financial counseling options. They were convinced there was a need, beyond setting up a budget, for some of those who came to Samaritan Fellowship seeking financial assistance. In the fall of 2002, a meeting of representatives from local agencies was held in Carlisle. The Director of Financial Counseling Services, a Chambersburg ministry, outlined the financial management concept. The representatives were enthusiastic and more meetings followed. In January, 2003, the Carlisle office was opened as a branch of the Chambersburg ministry in the United Way building. About this same time, the name of the ministry was changed to Maranatha. In 2006 the Carlisle office became incorporated as Maranatha-Carlisle and received IRS approval for its own non-profit status. We...

Rep Payee
Representative Payee Services assist individuals receiving Social Security benefits to better budget expenses and to ensure their basic needs and expenses are covered. Maranatha-Carlisle will receive their funds, pay needed expenses, and distribute a weekly check to the individual. Read More
Financial
Financial Management for individuals and families who are experiencing financial difficulties. Our counselor will assist in developing a plan, in coordination with the creditors, to enable individuals to meet their monthly obligations. On receipt of the individual’s funds, and monthly bills, creditors will then be paid by Maranatha-Carlisle. Our goal is for individuals to gradually assume responsibility for management of their own finances. Read More
